The ESP32-WROOM-32 is a powerful, generic Wi-Fi + Bluetooth + Bluetooth LE MCU module from Espressif Systems, designed for a wide variety of applications ranging from low-power sensor networks to demanding tasks such as voice encoding, music streaming, and MP3 decoding .
The module integrates the ESP32-D0WDQ6 chip, which features a dual-core Xtensa® 32-bit LX6 microprocessor with a clock frequency adjustable from 80 MHz to 240 MHz . The two CPU cores can be individually controlled, allowing flexible power management. The module includes 4 MB of SPI flash memory and 520 KB of on-chip SRAM, providing sufficient resources for complex embedded applications .
For wireless connectivity, the module supports 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n with data rates up to 150 Mbps and Bluetooth v4.2 BR/EDR + Bluetooth LE . It can operate in Station mode, SoftAP mode, or a combination of both.
Note: Espressif has declared the ESP32-WROOM-32 as Not Recommended for New Designs (NRND) . For new projects, it is recommended to use the newer versions ESP32-WROOM-32Eor ESP32-WROOM-32UE, which offer improved features including optional PSRAM, higher flash capacity options (up to 16 MB), and extended temperature versions up to 105°C
